The Aotea - Te Pokapū wayfinding system is a finalist in the 2019 Designers Institute of New Zealand Best Design Awards.

The new wayfinding signage was designed by Maynard Design as part of the Aotea Centre's refurbishment that is due to be completed in 2020.

The wayfinding system design is a finalist in both the Environmental Graphics and Non-Consumer categories. The striking signs complement Aotea Centre's modern new spaces, with clean, black and white visuals and elegant lines. Most importantly, the system enables all patrons to easily find their way through the Centre, with braille on all signs at touch-level.

According to Regional Facilities Auckland CEO Chris Brooks, this is still rare in New Zealand. "We are very proud to be recognised for our efforts to make the arts and events more accessible for everyone in our community,"  he said.
