Robbie Macrae – Director


Robbie has insights into every aspect of the performing arts and events sector, with a career that includes technical production, visitor experience, employee relations, artist management and programming. His ability to tap into every facet of the audience experience helps to set the tone for our absolute focus on creating unforgettable memories and engaging experiences.

Robbie’s previous entertainment industry roles encompass the full range of performing art forms from classical to contemporary. He was Business Programming Manager with Arts Centre Melbourne and Director, Performing Arts at THE EDGE.

With a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia, Robbie honed his commercial acumen and expertise in strategic planning and revenue management in Australia’s demanding airline industry.


Marija Gecan – General Manager Sales & Brand


With a career spanning over twenty years in the hospitality and tourism industries, Marija has a wealth of expertise in client management, business development and marketing.

Marija manages strategic client relationships with a primary focus on driving revenue. She leads Auckland Conventions Venues & Events’ sales team and champions its brand.

Marija has established strong business acumen and leadership skills as senior management at Stamford Hotels & Resorts, Hilton Worldwide, Accor Hotel, and as a restaurateur.   


Justin Poihipi – Technical Sales Manager


With fifteen years of experience at Auckland Conventions Venues and Events, Justin is the go-to for all things technical across all venues within the organisation’s portfolio. Justin’s knowledge of production options and available services is unparalleled.

Prior to his time at Auckland Conventions, Justin played professional rugby overseas while also working in live TV for various BBC shows. 


Josephine Godfrey – Operations Manager


Previous to her current role, Josephine has held various roles since joining the organisation in 2008, including managing the event coordination team and the sales team.

Always fascinated with the feeling of pulling off an event successfully, she has personally overseen more than 1,000 events, along with managing the expansion and integration of venues into Auckland Conventions’ portfolio including the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki and Auckland Zoo.

Her roles prior to joining Auckland Conventions have included conference coordination and event management for New Zealand wine and hotel brands.


Deemal Thilakaratne – Assistant Operations Manager


As Assistant Operation Manager, Deemal supports the Operations Manager with overseeing many of the events across Auckland Conventions Venues & Events’ portfolio of venues.

Having joined in September 2017, Deemal brings over fourteen years of operations experience to the role with previous positions at global hotel brands including Grand Millennium Auckland.
