Kiri Te Kanawa Theatre in Aotea – Te Pokapū | Aotea Centre has been Auckland's most in-demand space since it opened over 20 years ago as New Zealand's leading modern convention & performing arts venue.
In 2012, an extensive refurbishment was undertaken, updated interiors with birch timber ply and tasmanian oak panelling were matched with an acoustically responsive design to suit a range of theatre use situations. A virtual sound shell was also custom-fitted, delivering exceptional sound quality regardless of position.
Comfortably seating 2139 across three tiers, the auditorium is ideal for ceremonies, keynote presentations and conferences. Circulation space and function rooms surround the auditorium for larger, multi-room or multi-day events.
Kiri Te Kanawa Theatre is well-connected to the rest of Aotea – Te Pokapū | Aotea Centre and Auckland, making it ideal for conventions. The foyer areas and adjacent rooms provide ample space for registration desks, exhibition stands and catering, along with offering the opportunity to run concurrent break-out sessions. A wide variety of entertainment, hotels, & restaurants are also within a short walking distance.
