Did you know that the Bruce Mason Centre is one of the largest and most versatile events venues north of the Auckland City Centre?

It’s a North Shore landmark and a unique place for meetings and corporate functions, as well as special events such as awards ceremonies, school balls and gala dinners.

Here are five reasons why event organisers choose to have their events at the Bruce Mason Centre.

Tranquil beachside setting

Just fifteen minutes’ drive from the Auckland City Centre, most of the time against traffic, you escape the commotion of the city and arrive at the Bruce Mason Centre’s peaceful beachside setting. A short stroll will take you to the beach in one direction, and Takapuna’s shopping precinct in the other – perfect for stretching legs and breaking up full-day presentations or training events.

From theatre to banquet floor

The 1,102-seat Bruce Mason Centre theatre lends itself well to large conferences, with state-of-the-art technology and tastefully presented breakout rooms nearby. People often comment on the comfortable seating with plenty of legroom, laid out for excellent viewing anywhere in the tiered auditorium. What many people don’t realise is that the theatre seating is removable and can completely transform the theatre into a flat-floored space – perfect for bringing glamorous gala dinners to life for up to 400 guests.

Highly flexible spaces

The smaller event spaces within the Centre are ideal as meeting rooms, breakout spaces, networking areas, and even auction rooms! The Killarney Room on the first floor can be expanded or retracted into two separate rooms with operable walls.

Award-winning venue

The Bruce Mason Centre was the winner of the 2015 EVANZ Medium Venue of the Year award for its role as a venue where visitors are thrilled, informed and entertained – something it continues to do for the business events, arts, entertainment and sporting communities today.

A playwright’s legacy

The Bruce Mason Centre is named after one of New Zealand’s greatest playwrights, Bruce Mason, who grew up in Takapuna where the Centre is located. Bruce Mason’s original writing desk and typewriter, used for penning the classic New Zealand theatre plays The Pohutukawa Tree and The End of the Golden Weather, are proudly on display in the Centre’s main foyer in tribute to Mason’s life’s work.
